I really think that the move made by Meles is meaningless in terms of bringing peace to the area. In fact by putting forward this proposal meles is trying to dimplomatically corner Eritrea by throwing the ball into its court. I think the government of Eritrea will not accept the proposal and Meles knows that too well. His proposal aims, therefore, primarily at lowering Eritrean moral high ground and improving Ethiopian image. On the long run this superficial proposal can lead to military confrontation. I think Meles needs to either fully accept and implement the decision or reject it all together. Accepting the ruling in "principle" and refusing to abide by a final and binding ruling (call for open negotiation) do not go hand in hand. What the horn of Africa needs from its political leaders is political maturity, wisdom and courage to change what they can and to accept what they can not change and move forward. If there is peace borders are nothing more than imaginary lines.
