Is there any hidden agenda with Meles
Permalink Closed

This days many Ethiopians are convinced that Meles has hidden agenda, may be due to his mother’s background or others say he is a CIA agent. For me it is very hard to accept these things, we have to accept that lots of changes are undertaken in Ethiopia, new roads are constructed, western countries are cancelling their debts, people visiting from abroad are admiring the country. Let us give him a chance to make about a peace with our neighbouring Eritrea and judge him later.

How long do we give Meles a chance?

Do you realize that it has been 13 years since he come to power. You are only taking at its face value, wake up and try to look beyond that.

1. We lost many young Ethiopians in the Ethio-Eritrea war; this is because Meles failed us. You may ask why and that is the right question to ask. If he is for Ethiopia’s interest he would have done the following:

Before him sign a letter to the UN to recognize Eritreas as an independent country, he should have let them know where their boarder is. At the same time invite the UN and others so that Shaebia will agree on Ethiopian terms. At that moment Eritreans were egger about their independence nothing more. I am sure they would have agreed, otherwise without Ethiopia's recognition no one will recognize Eritrea.

If Meles have done the above mentioned things as any Ethiopian would have done, we wouldn’t be in this mess that we are in now. Please make a note, the lives that lost to reverse the aggression would have been saved.

2. Regarding Assab, trade and the relationship between the two countries was in astray because Meles didn’t put any tangible agreement before opening the Ethiopian frontiers for Shaebia to loot Ethiopia’s resources. Here too, Meles failed Ethiopia.

3. Territorial integrity is the foundation for development. If Ethiopia is not in peace within itself then any development achieved will be shattered. Meles is dividing the country along ethnic lines, and according to the article 39, any region of Ethiopia can secede without a question. Disintegrated country will not survive to see the fruits of its development. The key is not looking at the shallow development, but at the lasting peace and development. Thus, Meles’s interest is in Eritrea 100%. I want you to pay attention, I am not saying that because he is half Eritrea, but his work is totally Eritrea (unEthiopia, should I say).

Don’t be fooled by the cosmetic changes, this is a cover up until he finishes his goal, which is prosperous independent Eritrea, period.

These are just few of the examples….but I can write a book to prove that his interest from his guerrilla days is Eritrea, it has never been Ethiopia from the start.

How long do we have to see and wait? Is this not clear? How could Meles suggest a peace plan that abodons Ethiopians in the border areas? Can you imagine for a second what it means to be abdaones as a citzen?

How could believe Meles will exchange Asseb for Badme? Meles is using the donor countries to his goals. They use Meles in turn to dismantle Ethiopia. If Meles had interest for Ethiopia why would stop the war with Eritrea prematurely? Why should he imprison all those ethiopian army generals and non-commissoned after they fought against Shaibya or Eritrea? You must see the whole picture to judge who Meles is. Using development projects and financial from the western countries as a smokescreen, Meles is carrying out his plan of dismembering Ethiopia. Do you really believe Meles is interested in a democratic change in Ethiopia? His press law and the planned promotion of ethinic conflicts speak for themselves. Please open your mind and see what Meles has done to Ethiopia. There are more famine inflicted people than ever. Our farmers are forced to live their villages. Our youth have no chance of going to school so that they become responsible citzens.

Judging by his deeds we have to force Meles to step down. We have to another person. Why worry about Meles when we have abled ethiopians who could lead the country with patriotism and love of their people.

meles zenawi is the enemy eof ethiopia. He is also the among the good boys of the west. The west has been supporting him and has poured billions into his government which meles has siphoned off or diverted using his business empire. The roads you boast off are built by foreign loan or aid. This does not show that the country has been better off. famine and poverty have increased in the country. The money that comes from our historical enemies in the west does not develop us. Can  youmention any country that has developed through western aid.

Hi Selam,

It is good to hear your genuine opinion if it is from bottom of ur heart.

I was same like trusting TPLF/EPRDF, as if they would change the country. But, when i know them now, they all didnt had vision to their country. They dont have practical ground of development.

In the old days,  i was appreciating meles in every speech he made. But all didnt had root. Of course, he reads a lot, but it is not to develop his country instead for personel fame (he always use to prepare to answer questions). Nowadays, i think, every body knows meles, even some expect exactly what he is going to talk.

His system of ruling totally failed! But it is not only his failure, it is cummulative effect, and all his collegues including the dessident will be asked some time later.

Thanks all for your responses

I still do not believe the no war no peace situation, the government has to porpose a solution which may not be the best but why dont the opposition parties participate in giving a solution. What we hearing since 2 weeks are critics with out proposals.

selam Shekor, the opposition's proposal is clear and simple: Ethiopia must not give an inch of land to Eritrea and we must reclaim Assab.
