Eritrean Diplomacy at it's best.

The saying "while the dogs are barking, the camel continues to march" has been the theme of the Eritrean people for a long time. It is definitely an appropriate example and theme that represents the State of Eritrea as we speak. To anyone who has doubts about the way the GOE handles it's relations with the international community look no further than the past couple of weeks. The truth will always prevail. You must be principled, strong and focused to win people over. The past few years the GOE has done just that. If you have followed Shabait, Shaebia, TV-ERI, Dimtsi-Hafash, Hadas Eritrea even dehai & Alenalki you would have seen and heard the many activities of our foreign ministers, ambassadors, and cabinet officials as well as administrators and of course the President of Eritrea all on the same page. Promoting peace and standing strong on behalf of the Eritrean people. Not like the regime in Addis, advocating lies and promoting hate.

Just read some of the headlines that should be a lesson to those who don't know the GOE's great
approach to diplomacy. We should always remember our priority as a nation is to make sure our borders are safely secured. The economic sacrifice now, will pay of in the long run and there is no doubt that Eritrea's economic growth will surpass the successful growth before the 1998 war. We must stay vigilant throughout the next few weeks as Meles will continue to Flip flop. A number of Ethiopians who can't accept the fact that Eritrea is standing tall with the truth and the law on it's side, will start a propaganda campaign, sometimes using sellout Eritreans. Mean while just sit back and watch the camel at work. For starters here are some of the latest headlines that need to be noticed.

Dec 8, 2004, 19:50

Sanaa, Dec.8, 2004 (ERINA) -- President Isaias Afwerki who is on a working visit to Qatar and Yemen arrived in Sanaa today for a tow-day visit upon the invitation of President Ali Abdalla Saleh of Yemen.

Upon his arrival, President Isaias received a warm welcome from President Ali Abdalla Saleh, Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Abdul-Qader Bajammal, Foreign Minister Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi, Minister of Education Dr. Abdussalam Al-Jawfi and other senior Yemeni officials.

President Ali Abdalla Saleh hosted a luncheon reception at the Presidential palace in honor of President Isaias Afwerki.

In the early hours of the afternoon, an open meeting was held headed by Presidents Isaias Afwerki and Ali Abdalla Saleh. They discussed bilateral relations, relevant regional and international issues particularly of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea regions.

Both parties underlined the importance of strengthening of bilateral relations and agreed to solidify them to the advantage of both fraternal peoples. They expressed their willingness to work for peace, stability and security in the Horn of Africa and Southern Red Sea regions.

Moreover, Presidents Isaias Afwerki and Ali Abdalla Saleh held a closed door discussion on issues of importance to both regarding bilateral relations.

On relations with the U.S,

"During the meeting, Mr Yamamoto said that the US government remains firm on its last January statement on the Eritrea-Ethiopia border dispute, which stated the boundary commission's ruling as final and binding and that it should be implemented without any preconditions.

Mr Yamamoto told President Isayas the US government's desire and readiness to further strengthen the existing relations with Eritrea."

On relations with the Dutch,

"President Isaias Afwerki met and held talks today with the Minister of International Cooperation of the Netherlands, Ms. Agnes Van Arden. Talks between the President and the Dutch minister focused on the Eritrean-Ethiopian peace process, development projects in Eritrea as well as Eritro-Dutch relations".

On relations with Italy,

"Admiral Di Paola, who is on a two-day work visit to Eritrea, noted that the people of Eritrea and Italy share long historical ties and told President Isaias that this common tie will be the foundation for future bilateral cooperation in different sectors".

On relations with Norway,

"President Isaias Afwerki today met and held talks with the Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Vidar Helgesen, in Qatari capital of Doha. Both parties discussed bilateral relations as well as relevant and current issues".

On relations with Yemen which the regime in Addis and a few sellout Eritreans used as part of their
defamation propaganda that are full of lies,

"Upon his arrival, President Isaias received a warm welcome from President Ali Abdalla Saleh, Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Abdul-Qader Bajammal, Foreign Minister Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi, Minister of Education Dr. Abdussalam Al-Jawfiand other senior Yemeni officials.

President Ali Abdalla Saleh hosted a luncheon reception at the Presidential palace in honor of President Isaias Afwerki".

On Relations with Qatar,

"The high level delegation headed by His Excellency President Isaias Afwerki arrived in Doha the capital of Qatar at 6:00 o'clock in the evening according to reports. The President was accorded a warm welcome at the Adoha International Airport by the Amir of Qatar Asheikh Hamed Bin Kalifa Althani, Chairman of the Ministerial Assembly Asheikh Abdellah Bin Kalifa Althani, head of Protocol Affairs Amir Asheikh Mohammed Bin Fahad Althani respectively".

On Relations with Pakistan,

ISLAMABAD, Dec 8 (APP): Pakistan will send a delegation of businessmen and economic experts to Eritrea to explore and identify areas of cooperation between the two countries. The decision to this effect came here Wednesday at a meeting of Eritrean delegation with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in the PM House.

On relations with the African Union despite the much needed change by the organization,

"Eritrea took part in the 27th African Parliament Summit up on the invitation of the Secretary General of the African Parliamentary Union. The Summit took place in Algiers on the 29th and 30th November 2004. Mr. Musa Naib, General Director of the Department of General Education of the Ministry of Education represented Eritrea at the Summit".

These are just events that took place in December. In the past few years Eritrean representatives lead by the foreign minister Ali Said Abdella have racked up the frequent flier mileage throughout the world by meeting with individual nation's leaders, while standing firm on the EEBC decision. The message of this article Eritrea has made it clear that EEBC remains. Demarcation must begin now
and the Pillars must be put up right away. The regime in Addis knows it, the Ethiopian people need to accept it if they want peace and normalization. For anyone who has tried to underestimate the power of diplomacy Eritrean style, think again! After all during our struggle years the EPLF was successful because of it's diplomatic skills. Eritrea will prevail now and in the future.
